About the International Flow Battery Forum

Active since 2010, the International Flow Battery Forum (IFBF) is the leading event for the flow battery community.

In June 2027, the 18th edition comes to Barcelona. Spain is one of Europe’s most dynamic storage markets, with a new capacity market, rapid solar growth and a grid that needs flexibility. In Barcelona, IFBF 2027 also reaches out beyond its core community to the demand side: utilities and grid operators, banks and investors, and data centre developers.

Why sponsor IFBF 2027

Put your company in front of the people who build, buy and finance flow batteries.

  • Meet decision-makers. Around two in five delegates are C-suite or executive level.
  • Reach new buyers. In 2027 we are reaching out to utilities, financiers and data centre developers.
  • Showcase your products in an exhibition area at the heart of the networking space.
  • Build your brand before, during and after the event: website, newsletter (2,000+ subscribers), LinkedIn (4,500+ followers) and on-site.
  • Generate leads with the sector’s most loyal community: 43 delegates and 32 organisations have attended every edition since 2023.

Don’t just take our word for it!

“The quality of the presentations, networking opportunities, and panel discussions exceeded my expectations, providing valuable insights and practical knowledge that I can apply immediately. I left the IFBF with new connections, fresh ideas, and a stronger perspective on future opportunities.”

Crispin Hawes, AMG TitaniumIFBF 2026

“Flow batteries’ greater tolerance of intense power swings makes them an attractive alternative to lithium-ion batteries for the data centre market. Flow batteries could reduce the need for energy-intensive, workload-smoothing strategies and help stabilise data centre power demand.”

Kathrin Clay, Washington Post IntelligenceReporting from IFBF 2026

“Attending IFBF is a must for anyone involved in the redox flow battery industry. The high quality of the exhibition and the outstanding networking opportunities are essential for small companies, helping them grow and progress from R&D activities to industrial-scale products under the best possible conditions.”

Guillaume Roche, Iron Flow BatteriesIFBF 2026

Bringing the demand side to IFBF

Expanding the audience and the networking opportunities

Europe aims to double its energy storage capacity from 200 GW in 2030 to 400 GW in 2040. Long-duration storage is how that grid stays reliable. At IFBF 2027, the flow battery industry meets the people who will buy and finance it.

IFBF audience

Utilities and grid operators:

Spain’s grid needs flexibility as solar grows, and it has new rules to pay for it. After the April 2025 Iberian blackout, resilience is at the top of the agenda. At IFBF, utilities can see operational results from flow battery projects and meet the companies that build them.

Finance and investors:

A long-duration asset is only built if it can be financed. At IFBF, lenders, insurers and infrastructure investors meet manufacturers to discuss revenue models, performance guarantees and risk.

Data centres and critical infrastructure:

AI is driving a sharp rise in electricity demand, and data centres need clean, safe, long-duration backup. Flow batteries are non-flammable and can run for many hours. Data centre applications were a headline theme at IFBF 2026.
