Kenneth Davies is co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Birch Infrastructure, PBLLC. Birch develops, owns and operates the energy and water infrastructure required to supply hyperscale data centres, which in turn are at the heart of the fourth industrial revolution.
Prior to founding Birch, Kenneth was Director of Innovation for Energy Strategy & Research at Microsoft, where he was responsible for overseeing the company’s wholesale renewable energy and portfolio management strategies to manage economic and environmental risk associated with purchasing nearly one billion dollars of electricity worldwide annually. Before joining Microsoft Kenneth was Managing Director of Market Analytics at Altenex, the first brokerage house for corporate renewables.
Kenneth has also worked at Google, where he was the first energy expert on its Energy & Site Selection team. He created Google Energy LLC and served as cleantech advisor to Google Ventures. He has worked for over a decade in the renewable energy space, including experience at Constellation Energy, Charles River Associates, Cambridge Energy Research Associates, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Rocky Mountain Institute. Kenneth holds a BS, summa cum laude, in Mechanical Engineering and MEng in Operations Research, both from Cornell University, and a MS in Environmental Studies, with a focus on energy economics, from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
