Anthony Price has been advocating the need for long duration storage and promoting the benefits of flow batteries for more than 30 years. At National Power – one of the privatised electricity companies in the UK – he worked on flow batteries, energy storage, distributed generation and clean energy. In 2003 he founded Swanbarton, an engineering consultancy specialising in energy storage and microgrids. In 2010 Anthony established the IFBF to give a voice to the flow battery industry. In 2011 Anthony formed the Electricity Storage Network, an industry group for storage in the UK.
He has served as Director of the Electricity Storage Association, was Chairman of the Energy Panel of the Institution of Civil Engineers and was a former member of the Peer Review Panel for the US Department of Energy’s Energy Storage Program. He currently sits on BSI committees for secondary batteries and energy storage, and initiated the CENELEC Workshop Agreement on Flow Batteries. In 2021 he was asked to serve as Secretary General of the newly formed Flow Batteries Europe trade association.
Anthony was appointed OBE in the New Year’s Honours for 2021 in recognition of his services to the energy storage industry.
